SRSP initiated a joint venture with GTZ in order to assist the flood affected people of the Nowshera district, one of the major flood affected areas of the province that caused masses to flee their houses and brought great distress and miseries in their lives.
Ten Union Councils of District Nowshera have being selected for rehabilitation of Flood Affected People, including Nowshera city, Mohib banda, Naway kallay, Kabul river, Dagai, Choki town, Pir sabaq, Choki mumraiz , Misri band, Akora khattak
SRSP started its early recovery program in 10 UCs of District Nowshera. The project was initiated on October 1st, 2010 and would be completed by end of February 2010. The total funding for the project is 110 million PKR.
Detail of activities initiated are explained as below
Non Food Items & Emergency Relief
a) Provision of temporary boundary wall (Tent & Bamboos)
This activity was planned for 210 households in 6 union councils, until now 476 households have been provided with tents and tarpaulin in 3 union councils Naway Killy(164), Dagai(104),Chowki Mamraiz(208) accordingly.
b) Fumigation Sprays:
It was committed that 120 number of Fumigation sprays shall be conducted in 10 union councils, so far 90 sprays have been completed in Ist phase of UC Naway killy, Now city,Chowki town, Kabul River, akora khattak, mohib banda, dagai and activity is in progress in all the ten UCs
c) Rubble Removal from Streets:
An activity of Rubble removal has been initiated in 10 union councils, target for this activity is 30 number of activities, until now 21 activities has been completed, and activity is in progress in all the ten Ucs
d) Cash for Work Programme:
CFW is in Progress in 10 Ucs, 1080 man days have been created and the target for the activity is 36000 mandays.
Infrastructure Rehabilitation Support
a) Street pavements + Drains
Total 34 schemes have been surveyed, 22 schemes have been approved and 21 have been initiated while 7 schemes have been completed, with the estimated cost of Rs 4327101 and physical progress of the work is 50 %.
b) Street pavements + Drains (10 ft wide)
Total 5 Schemes have been surveyed, 1schemes has been approved and 1 schemes has been initiated with the total estimated of Rs 774462 and Physical status of the work is 40 %.
c) Drinking Water Supply Schemes - Hand pumps
Total 172 were surveyed with the approval of 147 schemes and 67 schemes have been initiated while 21 schemes have been completed , with the estimated cost of Rs 12400196 physical progress on work is 35%.
d) Drainage Repair
Total 45 have been surveyed with the approval of 31 schemes and all the approved schemes have been initiated with the estimated cost of Rs 3162699 and Physical work on the schemes have been 60 %completed
e) Drainage Clearing
Total 28 schemes have been surveyed,18 schemes have been approved and 10 schemes have been initiated with the estimated cost of Rs 73852 and physical work on the schemes have been 50% completed
f) New Drains
Total 6 schemes have been surveyed with the approval of 5 schemes and initiation of 5 schemes with the estimated cost of Rs752045 , Physical work of 30 % has been completed.
g) Debris Cleaning
Survey has been complete and the activity will start soon, estimated cost for the activity is Rs 420,000.
h) Fitting of Water Supply pipes
Survey has been complete for 3 schemes, activity will commence in the coming week after the approval of the schemes, and estimated cost for the activity is Rs 385,000.
i) Irrigation Channels
Total surveyed are 3 schemes with the approval and initiated of 1 scheme with the cost estimation of Rs 873948 , physical work of 10 % has been competed
j) Link Road (Damaged)
2 schemes have been surveyed they will be initiated soon estimated cost for the activity is Rs 624,990
k) Link Road (New)
1 schemes have been surveyed it will be initiated soon estimated cost for the activity is Rs715,000
l) Irrigation Channels (repair)
4 schemes have been surveyed 2 have been approved and 2 have been initiated with the estimated cost of Rs 396,600 with 40% physical progress.
Health & WASH Support
a) Mobile Health Clinics:
10 teams of mobile health clinics will be formed in 10 UCs so far Doctors has been identified and lists of medicine has been shared with head office for procurement cost estimate for the activity is Rs7,500,000.
b) Health & Hygiene messages / IEC material
Draft design has been finalised and send to Admin Section, total 10,000 leaflets will be designed and distributed among 10 UCs estimated cost for the activity is RS 1,000,000
Livelihood Revival Support
a) Grants for Small Scale Enterprise Revival
According to the plan 300 enterprises will be revived with a estimated cost of Rs 6,000,000, So far 80 potential Entrepreneurs have been identified, 15 persons have been assessed.
b) Technical & Employable Skill Trainings
Training of 250 persons in the following trades is in progress, Plumbing, Electrician, Carpentry, Masonry and Tailoring, 1st badge will be completed on 10 Jan and second badge of 125 persons is in progress estimated cost for the activity is Rs 6,250,000
c) Awareness Campaigns on Safe Drinking Water
Focal person has been identified. Activity will be initiated in 2st week of Jan 11, total estimation for the activity is Rs 1,500,000
d) Provision of Agri Inputs
Distribution Completed (1bag Wheat, 2 Bags Urea, 1 bag DAP) among 200 farmers of 10 Ucs at the cost of Rs 1,500,000
e) Mobile Veterinary Clinics for Treatment & Vaccination
staff has been identified. Activity will be initiated upon receiving of medicine. Estimate for the activity is Rs 4,715,000
