Providing Comfort

SRSP has built the capacity of over 18,000 community organization and their leadership across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. One third of these are women organizations.

SRSP helped build over 60,400 houses in a community driven housing programme after the earthquake of 2005 which has been rigorously evaluated and where compliance rates with standards were over 92%.

SRSP has implemented community infrastructure projects of over Rs 3.26 billion in different parts of the province in diverse field like drinking water and sanitation; irrigation; micro hydro electricity generation; link roads; housing etc. Studies show a very high rates of sustainability and ownership for these projects.

SRSP has been given the responsibility for establishing a grass root empowerment and livelihood programme for FATA following the RSP Approach.

SRSP in partnership with UNHCR delivered Non Food Items to over 300,000 households in the IDP crisis of 2009 and ran the entire warehouse operations for this effort as international organizations had to leave Peshawar due to security reasons.

SRSP has been a major innovator in micro finance, community investment funds and small enterprise development and has developed models for working in chaotic  and diverse environments.

SRSP has been a major nursery for development professionals and communities in the province.  Its vast outreach and numerous programmes offer opportunities to  young people in the province to learn development and humanitarian work and contribute in the field.

In the last few years SRSP has worked with numerous international donors which include major donors like AusAid, CIDA, DFID, UNDP, UNHCR, OSI, ICCO, CAFOD, etc and with World Bank funded Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federal Government.
