Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda Districts
These districts are the most densely populated parts of the province. Rising rivers and floods in dry stream have affected over 800,000 thousand people. Water is standing in most houses. The godown we run for UNHCR on the outskirts of Peshawar was inundated by water rising to almost fifteen feet. There is water every where. Its is fast receeding althouth large parts of Charsadda and Nowshera are under water. In the town of Nowshera people are moving about in boats in the Bazar. Communication from Peshawar to Islamabad is totally cut off. The major issue at the moment is rescuing people who have been marooned. In addition to this the people face shortages of food, shelther provision, medical help and non food items. Food crops stored in villages by people have been washed away and crops destroyed on a large scale

Three hundred houses have been destroyed and over two hundred shops destroyed. The main hit areas are Ranolia, Dubair Bala and Jijal Bazar. Breakding down of bridges is posing a big challenge getting to people. The need for food, shelter and medicine are posing is big challenge.
